The UCDavis VIGRE project
Funded by the National Science Foundation

The UC Davis VIGRE project offers a range of activities designed to integrate research mathematics into every facet of our educational programs at all levels: undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and outreach to the public.

Our goals are:

  • To increase the quality of our graduate education.
  • To recruit larger number of students into mathematics, in particular from underrepresented minorities.
  • To mentor our postdoc building a strong preparation for their future careers.

The frame of the project are our Research Focus Groups, where a group of faculty, postdocs, grads and undergrads work closely together in a hot topic in advanced mathematics. The Research Focus Group activities will include a research seminar, a reading seminar, research projects, and outreach events. The areas of research of the Groups may vary from year to year, depending on the interests and expertise of the faculty and graduate students.

Undergraduates and graduate students are invited to participate in the many educational opportunities and to apply for financial support in the form of fellowships and minigrants. To apply or to learn more choose from the corresponding links in the menu at the left.
