Math Café and Activities
Math Activities
Besides courses and lectures, students have opportunity to join in
outreach to the community, fun social activities, and events for
professional development and job searching. For example, mathematics
students can take part in such events as
Picnic Day, helping teach
children about cool math games and puzzles, or assist with Career-Grad
school Night, where advice on jobs and grad school applications are
shared. Also, did you know that you can get paid to do research in math?
We have fellowships available for the Summer REU. Each year we also
have "Math Awareness Week," when we invite math majors to help us show
the community the many cool applications of mathematics and its inner
beauty.
For most of these activities, faculty and staff help
organize such events, but volunteers are welcome at all times! Do you have
any ideas for an activity that may attract other math majors? Contact the
Student Services Office today! Your involvement is truly
a great asset for us. Keep an eye on our front web page for upcoming events.
Math Café
Math Café
is a mathematics-related club at UC Davis and was founded with the goal of
encouraging students to succeed and continue their educations in
mathematic fields. It seeks for ways to let students tackle mathematics
more comfortably and confidently outside of the classroom. The main
focus is on females as they are an underrepresented minority in
mathematics, but all people are welcome to visit.
