Hi all, hope you've been enjoying your weekend. MIDTERM INFO The midterms have been graded and the scores are available on MyUCDAVIS. I will hand them back in class tomorrow. The exam was out of 165, with a 10-point bonus question. (Final scores will be determined apart from any bonus points awarded on both midterm and final, so the bonus really is a bonus.) There were two scores of 100% or higher, and 10 of the 22 test takers earned a 70% or higher. Though the test was demanding and lengthy, I can tell that many people spent time looking over the practice midterm and it shows: every question on the practice midterm was modeled after a real midterm question or a homework question, and in the strong majority of cases, the harder question was on the practice test! The solutions to the MT are available online. Please note that several problems can be solved many ways, and I only listed one on the posted solutions. If your work is mathematically correct AND you've shown work (where appropriate), of course you receive full credit. OTHER SCORES Scores to he first four homeworks and the first two quizzes are also on MyUCDAVIS. REGARDING HOMEWORK HW must be turned in IN CLASS! After that, it is considered late and it is not collected. Homework is due EVERY Monday and EVERY Wednesday, which includes tomorrow. Feigning ignorance about the due date is no excuse! Though the orginal printed syllabus does not list the specific assignment details, it DOES specify the due dates!! My hope is that you are trying to do some work on the homework each day, and REALLY putting in effort on it. Even if your scores are high, the point is to be thorough, like the length of the posted sample solutions. It seems that the homework, quiz, and midterm scores corrolate quite well. Coincidence? If you are unhappy about your scores so far, I hope you'll rethink the mindset of "I'll just pull it all off on the final." Treat every homework question like it might show up on the final, because, well.... some of them almost certainly WILL be on an upcoming quiz or on the final! See you all tomorrow, and thanks for the healthy high scores on the midterm! Eddie
