WetsFest: Optimization, Variational Analysis, and Modeling (UC Davis)

[Roger Wets photo] Prof. Roger J-B Wets, a mathematician widely recognized for his important contributions to optimization, is retiring. The UC Davis Department of Mathematics is organizing a scientific event in his honor: ``Optimization, Variational Analysis, and Modeling'', Friday October 10th 2008 at the campus of the University. We are truly pleased that the following mathematicians have already agreed to give an invited lecture:

  • John Birge (Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago)
  • Richard Cottle (Management Science and Engineering, Stanford University)
  • Terry Rockafellar (Mathematics, University of Washington)

You are cordially invited to attend and, if you also desire, to submit a 25 minute contributed talk. Please submit it at your earliest convenience to Prof. Jesús De Loera (deloera@math.ucdavis.edu) for inclusion to the program. We truly hope you will be able to attend and celebrate Roger's work!
