CALCULUS ROOM

The Calculus Room is a place where any 16 series student can go to receive tutoring from any 16 series TA.  This will replace TA's traditional office hour with 2 hours per week per unit of tutoring in the Calculus room. 

The Calculus Room is located in the MSB at 1118, and is available to all 16 series students during all hours of operation, regardless of who their TA might be.  The hours of operation are from 11am to 6pm and the room will be open every weekday.

Mathematics Placement Requirement (MPR):

You will be dropped from this course if you have not satisfied the Mathematics Placement Requirement (MPR), which is to satisfy the following

 

Passing the Math Placement Exam with an overall score of at least 30 AND a trig score of at least 2.

Dates-Times-Location: MWF - 5.10-6.00 pm - GIEDT 1001

Goal: The main goal of this class is to learn technique to study funtions of one variable and sketch their graphs.

MTs and HWs schedule

Homework: We will collect 3 homeworks and grade randomly 1 or 2 problem. HWs will be collected in class, or can be dropped into the folder out of Emanuele office (that is 3136 MSB).s. 

Mid-term: We scheduled two mid-terms on Jan.30.12 and Feb.22.12

Solutions: We will provide solutions for MTs and HWs. We will NOT provide the solutions for MTs and final sample.

Final: The final exam is scheduled for Mar-24-12, 10:30 am->12:30 pm,  GEIDT 1001.

Dates: HW1: given Jan 18 -> due Jan 23

           MT1: Jan 30

           HW2: given Feb 6 -> due Feb 13

           MT2: Feb 22

           HW3: given Feb 27 -> due Mar 5

Grades:

Homeworks:   5+5+5%
Midterms: 20+20%
Final: 45%

During the mid-term and final exam: You can’t use books, calculators, cell-phones etc..You can use ONE page of notes written by yourself.
