for undergraduate students:Math Circle MAT 192
Learn to design and teach interesting math! MAT 192Undergraduate Math Circle participants register for MAT192 for 3 units of credit (P/NP). The course is a weekly seminar, meeting at a time to be determined. The associated CRN is available now. Please contact the director if you need the CRN. As part of the seminar, undergrads will assist our graduate student instructors during the Saturday workshops. By the end of the quarter, MAT 192 students will have taught the high school Saturday workshops and a module of their own design to a junior high school class. Through the weekly seminars, undergrads will improve their expository and presentation skills. Few undergrads have a chance to teach a workshop of their own design; our undergrads are not only given this chance, they will also be mentored through the process by graduate students chosen for their dynamic teaching ability and research potential. EnrollmentEnrollment is based on instructor approval. Because we want our students to get as much as possible from their graduate student mentors, we are restricting the number of students in our class to six students. Enrollment for MAT 192 in Winter 2012 will open Fall Quarter. If you are interested in participating, we strongly encourage you to contact us. |
