A hyperplane arrangement is a finite set of hyperplanes in a real affine space. Problems of hyperplane arrangements have been studied from geometric, topological and combinatorial perspectives. This reading course is going to be based on notes on hyperplane arrangements by Richard Stanley. It is an introduction to hyperplane arrangements, focusing on connections with combinatorics.
Here are images of some hyperplane arrangements drawn by Tom Denton.
Our plan is to go through the first three chapters, and partially chapters 4 and 5 in Stanley's notes.
