Geometric Topology Research Focus Group, 2008

This will be the main site for coordinating the Geometric Topology Research Focus Group activities in 2008.

All are welcome to participate.

Planned activities in the Fall quarter include:

A weekly research seminar and student seminar.

A series of 3 lecture mini courses introducing topics in low dimensional topology. These will be on Fridays, 12-1 PM in 2112 MSB.

Topics for lecture series

Oct 24, 31, Nov. 7: Alexander Coward, "Normal surfaces and their applications"
Volunteers to give talks should contact me.

Reading course

Alexander Coward is leading a reading course on Topics in 3-manifold Theory. See Reading course

Undergraduates

Undergraduates interested in this topic can get an introduction in the undergraduate topics course taught this Fall by Prof. Abigail Thompson: Knot Theory: A Gentle Introduction to Low-Dimensional Topology:
