In a nutshell, a topology on a set X is a subset of the powerset of X that satisfies certain properties. If this sentence makes you squeem, then maybe you are not quite ready for this course. MAT 127A is a prerequisite for this course along with the mathematical maturity and abstract thinking resulting from taking MAT 127A. I also recommend having taken MAT 67 and MAT 108.
There will be weekly homework, but the homework will not be collected. There will be frequent quizzes (4 total). Each quiz will more or less feature one homework problem and one problem related to, but not to be found on, the homework.
Quiz dates: Oct 10, Oct 24, Nov 7, Nov 21. Final exam: Mon, Dec 8 (1-3).
Calculating the final grade: Six scores will be recorded, namely, each of the quiz scores and the final exam score (2x). Of these, two will be dropped, to result in a percentage that will determine your final grade.

Attendance: Is not mandatory. If you miss a lecture, read the book and other sources to catch up.

Student ID's: You must produce your student ID when requested to do so.
