In a nutshell, a topology on a set X is a subset of the powerset of X that satisfies certain properties. If this sentence makes you squeem, then maybe you are not quite ready for this course. There's no particular background that you need, but mathematical maturity and abstract thinking are required. If you want to spend time learning what I mean by this, start by taking MAT 108.
There will be weekly homework, but the homework will not be collected. There will be frequent quizzes (5 total). Each quiz will feature one homework problem, one non homework problem. Your grade for the course will 50% Quizzes, 50% Final exam.
Quiz dates: Sept 30, Oct 12, Oct 24, Nov 4, Nov 18. Final exam: Dec 8 (1-3).

Attendance: Is not mandatory. If you miss a lecture, read the book and other sources to catch up.

Student ID's: You must produce your student ID when requested to do so.


Technology: Cell phones and other personal technology must be turned off during class.

Exceptions to this policy are made in accordance with ADA.
