Homework:  Homework is a very important part of this course.  I will post homework several times a week on the course website and you are expected to attempt ALL of these problems.  However, because of budget constraints, no homework will be collected.  If you want me to look over your homework and provide feedback I will gladly do so, all you must do is write the homework up CAREFULLY and staple all pages in the upper left-hand corner.  WebWork homework will also be assigned weekly and will be graded, more details to be announced later.

Homework Details:
1)
Practice problems will be assigned after every lecture on the homework page.  These problems are intended to practice the topics covered in the lecture of the day.  You should attempt all the problems!  Doing many MANY problems is the best way to learn mathematics.  The number of problems assigned may seem overwhelming, but you should really try to attempt all of them.  Even though the practice problems won't be collected, you should still write them up on paper for the practice of it.  This will help in test taking when midterms roll around.

2) The webwork course for this class is now active.  Login here.  Your initial login name is the name that comes before the "@" sign in your @ucdavis.edu email address.  Your initial password is your student ID number.  To change your password, login to webwork at the link above and follow the link for "Password/Email" in the tab at the left of the welcome page.  You are responsible for checking the webwork site regularly for new problem sets and completing them by the posted due date.

3) More about webwork:  Make sure to read the course information carefully on the sign-in screen.  Most importantly: MAKE SURE TO PREVIEW YOU ANSWERS before you submit them.  Submitting answers cannot be undone.

3) Information about MyMathLab: MyMathLab is for sale at the book store, BUT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BUY IT!!! We will not be using MyMathLab in this class.

Quizzes:  There will be a quiz every Tuesday (with the exception of midterm days), starting Tuesday September 29th.  Quizzes will be based off of homework problems assigned, and may even contain some homework problems verbatim, so it pays to do your homework!  Quizzes will be given at the END of class on Tuesdays.

Midterm:  There will be two midterms:
Final: The final will be comprehensive and will be given on December 8th.

Note: There will be no make-up exams.
