YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DROPPED IF YOU DO NOT SATISFY THIS.

We will cover most of chapters 2-4 and 6
Grading:
Homework:    25 points maximum (about 30 available)
Quizzes:    15 points maximum (about 18 available)
Midterm 1:    25 points
Midterm 2:    25 points
Final:    50 points
Total:    140 points

70 points total will earn you a D-
85 points a C-
105 points a B-
125 points for an A-

These numbers will be adjusted if  fewer homework or quiz points than expected are given.

The expectation
 is that almost everyone will get nearly full points on homework and quizzes.
The exams will be more challenging, but you will only need to get slightly less than half the points on them to pass the class.
There may be one or two extra credit problems during the quarter.


Homework: There will be weekly homework assignments, announced on this website each Monday, and due the following Monday.
You are encouraged to discuss the homework problems with other students.
However, the homeworks that you hand in should reflect your own understanding of the material.
You are NOT allowed to copy solutions from other students or other sources.

Homework is due at the beginning of class.
Late homework will not be accepted.


Quizzes: Quizzes will consist of one or two questions and be 5-10 minutes long.
They will be given at the beginning of class on days homework is due.
You may refer to your own homework during quizzes.


Exams: Midterm 1  will be on October 24 and cover Sections 1.1-2.1, 3.6, and 8.1-8.3.

Midterm 2  will be on November 16 and cover Sections 2.1-2.8 and 8.4.

The final exam  will be on December 13, 1:30-3:30pm and cover all the material in the course.


No books, notes, or calculators will be allowed during exams.
If you have unavoidable conflicts with those exam times, please talk to Pr.Someone.
