TEXT: Thomas' Calculus: Early Transcendentals by Weir, Hass and Giordano. It is possible to avoid buying the book if you have good internet access; see below.

GRADE:

Course grade will be based on homework, two midterms and a final exam, with the weighting approximately as follows:

Homework: 10%

Midterm Exam 1: 25%

Midterm Exam 2:  25%

Final Exam: 40%

COMMENTS:

Please bear in mind that cellphone ringing, talking, newspaper reading, etc. disrupt the lectures.

Use of books, notes, calculators and other electronic equipment (e.g. cell phones) will not be allowed on any exam.

There will be no make-up exams. A missed exam counts as 0 points.

Solutions for the midterms will be posted on the web.

I will use a fixed grading scale. If everybody does well, everybody can get an A.

HOMEWORK:

You will do your homework over the web. You are encouraged to work each problem first on paper before entering the answer into the computer.
You may find it helpful to print out the entire homework before you start to work on it.

The textbook is connected to an online supplement called MyMathLab. To do the homework, log into the MyMathLab Course Compass. You will need the code for this course, which is morris73657. Follow the instructions at MyMathLab Info.

Unfortunately, MyMathLab works only with Windows. Mac users are encouraged to go to one of the computer labs on campus.
There are several computer labs on campus that have the necessary plugins installed. These are
