Examinations: There will be 3 midterm examinations and a final.

First Midterm: Friday, January 26.
Second Midterm: Friday, February 16.
Third Midterm: Friday, March 9.
Final Examination (Exam Code S): Thursday, March 22, 1:30 - 3:30pm.

No calculators are allowed in these examinations. Exam problems will be based on the homework and reading assignments, and problems and examples worked out in lectures and discussion sections.

No make up examination will be given. If you missed a midterm exam because of the circumstances beyond your control, you should contact the instructor as soon as possible for a conference.

The final examination covers the whole material of the course. No one can be excused from the final examination. In case you missed it, you should notify the Department immediately. Upon receiving approval from the Department, the course grade I (incomplete) may be assigned to eligible students.

You are expected to strictly adhere to the UCD Code of Academic Conduct.

Homework: Homework assignments are listed below. You are expected to work all assigned problems. Every week a small number of homework problems will be collected for grading. Problems to be submitted will be posted on the course Web page every week. In determining your homework grade, the lowest score will be dropped. No late submission is accepted.

Discussion Sections: It is very important that you attend all discussion sessions. Your teaching assistants will lead problem-solving discussions. Some course materials may also be covered in the discussion sections.

Course Grade: The course grade will be determined by counting the scores of your homework, midterm examinations and final examination with the following weight factors:
