Research:

My research interests include probability, stochastic processes, and information theory. For the last few years, I have been working with my advisor Jim Crutchfield studying synchronization in hidden Markov models. A list of publications/preprints is given below.

1. Exact Synchronization for Finite-State Sources,
N.F. Travers and J.P. Crutchfield,  Journal of Statistical Physics (accepted, 2011).

2.
Asymptotic Synchronization for Finite-State Sources, N.F. Travers and J.P. Crutchfield,  Journal of Statistical Physics (accepted, 2011).

3. Infinite Excess Entropy Processes with Countable-State Generators, N.F. Travers and J.P. Crutchfield,  arxiv.org 1111.3393

4.
Equivalence of History and Generator Epsilon-Machines, N.F. Travers and J.P. Crutchfield,  arxiv.org 1111.4500
