In April 2011, I visited the Isaac Newton Institute in Cambridge, England. During a long weekend I had plenty of opportunity to explore the campus and surrounding areas. With the combination of spectacular old architecture and rural walking paths, it felt like something out of a fairy tale. The Members Only series is factually inaccurate in the sense that many of the colleges are in fact open to visitors (frequently for a fee), but on a more metaphorical level, I feel it captures something of the aura of exclusivity surrounding the town, the feeling of constantly peering through gates for glimpses of the privileged and inaccessible worlds within.
