Text

The text for the course is Neuhauser’s Calculus for Biology and Medicine 2nd Edition. We will cover parts of chapters 10, 11, and 12, as well as material from online notes.

Grading

There will be two midterms and a final exam. The final grade will be computed as follows.

Homework: 10%
Quizzes: 20%
Midterm 1 (April 16): 20%
Midterm 2 (May 13): 20%
Final Exam: 30%

Homework

Homework will be assigned twice per week. The homework assignments will be due at the beginning of class every Monday and Thursday. Late homework will not be accepted. The assignments will be posted on the course web site. Homework will be graded on both correctness and completeness. For homework, calculators are allowed. You are welcome to discuss your homework with other students. However, the final product must be your own.

Quizzes

There will be a scheduled quiz every Thursday and the occasional pop-quiz. The questions will be drawn from the homework assigned that week. You may not use any books, notes, or calculators on the quizzes.

Exam Policy

You may not use any books, notes, or cell phones on the exams. Legitimate excuses for missing an exam (such as verified illness or serious family emergencies) in all cases must be approved, preferably in advance. Unexcused absences from any exam will receive a score of "0".
