Course Grade, Homework and Exams

The final grades will be based on the following scheme Homework is assigned every Monday at the end of class. They are for your personal training and should help you understand the course material. They will not be graded, but some of the exercises might appear in the exams.

There will be two midterm exams (see Syllabus for details of chapters)

The comprehensive final exam will be held on Friday Dec 11, 10:30am -- 12:30pm.

All exams will be closed book with no calculators or electronic devices (such as cell phones) allowed. No communication among the students will be tolerated. There will be no make up exams.

Use of computers

Experimenting with computer programmes such as Maple (the easiest to start with), Mathematica or Matlab could be illuminating. To set up an account on the Department computers and use these programmes, follow this link .
