Announcements

12/3 - Tutoring session on Saturday, December 5th from 10 AM - 5 PM in 1147 Mathematical Sciences Building. The cost is $10. Mathematics graduate students are the tutors.

10/12 - Wednesday's office hours will end at 2:50. Prof. Wanda's office hours on Monday will be extended by 30 minutes.
10/7 - TI-89 users: the function for log base 10 is "log(x)". For example, "log(100)" outputs 2. You can use the keyboard (purple buttons) to type in log.
10/2 - The deadline for participating in the Putnam exam is 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9th (see Perry Gee in MSB, room 1130). The exam is given on Saturday, December 5th, 2009. The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is the most prestigious college math competition and is open to all undergraduates in the United States and Canada. (However, no individual may participate in the competition more than four times.) Each year, over 3000 students take the Putnam, and the 25 top-scoring individuals receive awards of up to $750 as well as solicitations from summer employers and graduate programs. It's also a fun, intense, intellectual experience for everyone involved.
