Final Exam
Final exam for 22A will be on Friday, December 12, 2008. Location: Kleiber 3. Time: 10:30am-12:30pm
The final exam will be cumulative, covering handouts, lecture notes, examples from class, homework assignments 1 through 26, and material from Chapters 1, 3, 4, 6, 8. In addition, it covers material from Sections 7.2 and 10.1. Materials that are only presented in Section 10.2 and no in either Section 4.3 or 10.1 are not required. Here is a link to a practice final exam, and here is a link to the key. Please be advised that the actual final may contain problems that are not present in the practice final. Please notify the instructor if you find any mistakes in these materials.

Midterm Exam 2
Midterm 2 is schedule to take place during class on Monday November 21 (Friday). It will cover handouts, lecture notes, and examples from class, homework assignments 10 through 20, and material from sections 1.5, 4.1-4.3, 6.1-6.6, and 8.1 in the book, which was presented in lecture notes through matieral on rank of a matrix on Friday, November 14, 2008. Here are some RULES for Midterm 2:

It is a violation of the university honor code to, in any way, assist another person in the completion of this exam, copy answers from another student's exam, have another student take your exam for you. Please keep your own work covered up as much as possible during the exam so that others will not be tempted or distracted. Thank you for your cooperation.
No notes, books, or classmates may be used as resources for this exam. You may NOT use a calculator on this exam.
Read directions to each problem carefully. Show all work for full credit. In most cases, a correct answer with no supporting work will NOT receive full credit. What you write down and how you write it are the most important means of your getting a good score on this exam.
Most of the exam questions will be homework-type, practice exam-type questions. There will be an OPTIONAL EXTRA CREDIT problem on the exam.
You do NOT have to memorize the conditions for real vector spaces. However, you should expect to be asked to use these rules to determine whether some set is a vector space.
Make sure you have 8 pages including the cover page.
