Textbook:

Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, 8th Edition, by Boyce/DiPrima. Just to make sure that everyone get the right book, here is the front page.

Syllabus: 

We'll try to follow the departmental syllabus and cover chapters 1, 2, 3, 6&7, which include the following topics: 1st order differential equations, 2nd order linear differential equations, Laplace transforms and 1st order linear systems. You may also want to use the companion web site from the publisher, which includes Maple, MATLAB and Mathematica files for ODEs, and information about the ODE architect software included with the text.

Lecture time: MWF 11:00-11:50 a.m. & Place: Haring 1227

Exams:

Grading Policy: 

Midterms 30% each and Final 40% Or  HW 20%, Midterm1 20%, Midterm2 20% and Final 40% if you prefer to hand in homework problems. Note that the lowest of 8 HW scores will be dropped.

Homework:

Homework problems will be assigned on this web page. You can hand in homework for grading by the due date. Late ones will not be accepted. Selected homework Solution will be posted after the due date. The list and due dates maybe be updated after every lecture. The ones marked with a * are for reading purpose only.
