UC Davis Mathematics

Reader Positions

Readers grade homework in undergraduate classes. Typically the Math Department only has a budget to hire readers for required/core upper division math classes (e.g. MAT 108, 127A/B/C, 135A, and 150A). It is very unusual to hire readers for lower division classes.

Reader positions are awarded based on experience. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply, but please be aware that we almost exclusively hire undergraduate students to work as readers in math.

Readers may work up to 19 hours per week. Most reader assignments in math are for approximately 4-11 hours per week.

Applications are accepted throughout the year for Reader positions. Applications are considered for one academic year and are not used for summer sessions.
