STEM Café and Activities

Math Activities

In addition to courses and lectures, students have an opportunity to join in outreach to the community, fun social activities, and events for professional development and job searching. For example, mathematics students can take part in such events as Picnic Day, helping teach children about cool math games and puzzles, or assist with Career-Grad school Night, where advice on jobs and grad school applications are shared. Also, did you know that you can get paid to do research in math? We have fellowships available for the Summer REU. Each year we also have "Math Awareness Week," when we invite math majors to help us show the community the many cool applications of mathematics and its inner beauty.

For most of these activities, faculty and staff help organize such events, but volunteers are welcome at all times! Do you have any ideas for an activity that may attract other math majors? Contact the Student Services Office today! Your involvement is truly a great asset for us. Keep an eye on our front web page for upcoming events.

Math Club

Math Club is an undergraduate-run club that meets weekly during the school year, dedicated to advancing mathematics by building a friendly community between people who enjoy math, by hosting guest lecturers, and providing networking opportunities for its members. All are welcome!

Visit the Math Club website for meeting times and location.

STEM Café

STEM Café is a program hosted by the Women’s Resources and Research Center (WRRC) with the goal of providing a friendly, collaborative, and informal setting for students in STEM classes to work on homework or discuss the subject. STEM Café is open to all students, regardless of gender.

Tuesdays from 4-6 are math night at STEM Café (formerly Math Café). STEM Café meets in the WRRC Conference Room (North Hall 125). The WRRC provides refreshments, and math graduate students, professors, and upper-division students volunteer their time to answer questions.

For more information about Math Café and other STEM-related programs at the WRRC, you can contact wrrc@ucdavis.edu.
