Text: Biocalculus: Calculus, Probability and Statistics for the Life Sciences by James Stewart and Troy Day.
Grading: 20% Homework, 80% Exams. The final will have the same weight as either 1 or 2 midterms, whichever grade is higher. More explicitly: (Top 6 of 7 homework scores)/6 + (MidtermI+MidtermII+Final) or (Top 6 of 7 homework)/6 + (4*MidtermI + 4*MidtermII + 2*Final)/3.
The final will be out of 200 points. Grades: F:0-159, D-:160-179, D:180-219, D+:220-239, C-:240-269, C:270-299, C+:300-329, B-:330-349, B:350-379, B+:380-399, A-:400-419, A:420-459, A+:460-480.
Exams: You are allowed to use one sheet of notes (both sides), no calculator and no books.

Course Outline: The course is an introduction to integral calculus and elementary differential equations via applications to biology and medicine. Topics will include the fundamental theorem of calculus, techniques of integration, improper integrals, elementary first order differential equations, linear algebra and applications in biology and medicine.

The prerequisites for this course are (from the course catalog): Any of the differential calculus courses MAT 16A, MAT 17A or MAT 21A.

This is a rough outline of when topics will be covered and will be edited as the term progresses. The exam scheduling will not change. Homework problems will also be added and collected on the following section days.
