About Me

Profile PictureHello! My name is Mikhail Gaerlan, and I am a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis. I obtained a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics in December 2018. I also graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics and am an alumnus of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science.

My current research interests are broad and include various fields of applied mathematics such as big data, machine learning, statistics, and optimization.

I love programming and have used various languages including Java, Fortran, Python, and Mathematica for different research projects such as network science, dark matter research, computational fluid dynamics, and accelerator, particle, and nuclear physics.
