This directory contains 12 hyperspectral images of natural scenes
gathered in Maryland and Australia.  They were gathered by T.W.
Cronin and C.-C. Chiao of the Department of Biological Sciences at
the University of Maryland Baltimore County.   For details of image
capture procedure, see Ruderman et al. in JOSA (to appear).
  

The images are within a gzipped tar file "hyperspectral_dataset.tar.gz".
Each of the 12 scenes consists of 43 images at various wavelengths.
Within each file the images are 128x128 pixels stored as 4-byte
floats (written by a Pentium), with the first 128 floats being
the bottom row of the image from left to right, and then each
row up the image follows.  The images are calibrated to reflectance,
between 0 and 1.

These images can be used for exploratory purposes without permission.
