Homework will be assigned each week, due on Fridays by 2:00 p.m. Late Homework will not be accepted.

The course grade will be based on Homework (10%), Midterms (25% each), Final (40%), weighted as shown.

Text for Math 121

Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences, 2nd Ed., Mary L. Boas, John Wiley and Sons, 1983.

The course will cover the following parts of the text: Chapter 7 (Fourier series); Chapter 12 (Legendre, Bessel, and other special functions); Chapter 13 (partial differential equations); and Chapter 15 (Fourier and Laplace transforms).
