Graph braid groups

Geometry/Topology

Speaker: Lucas Sabalka, UC Davis
Location: 2112 MSB
Start time: Wed, Nov 8 2006, 4:10PM

Artin's classical and much studied braid groups may be defined in terms of configuration spaces on a disk. Replacing the disk with a graph, we may study braid groups on graphs. I will define graph braid groups in more detail and discuss various aspects of them, hopefully including a solution to the isomorphism problem in some cases. The talk will be aimed at graduate students.
