Many dualities in representation theory involve a pair of commuting algebras acting on a common space. In some cases these algebras can be constructed geometrically as convolution algebras, and the algebraic duality has an interesting geometric consequence, which we call symplectic duality. We will discuss how this symplectic duality occurs naturally in the representation theory of sl(n).
