Explore UC Davis

As an admitted prospective student, we invite you to visit campus to meet our graduate students and faculty, explore our research opportunities, and learn more about life at UC Davis on Friday, March 5, 2027.

If you are traveling from outside the area, we encourage you to arrive on Thursday, March 4. We recommend departing on Saturday, March 6; however, if you have limited time, you may depart after 5:00 PM on March 5 (flights after 7:30 PM are recommended). The nearest airport is Sacramento International (SMF).

The deadline to RSVP to attend is Friday, February 19.

Travel Reimbursement

Travel reimbursement is available only for prospective students traveling from within the United States to attend our recruitment event.

Air Travel

  • Up to $300 for economy roundtrip airfare from California, Oregon, or Washington.
  • Up to $500 for economy roundtrip airfare from all other U.S. states.
  • Airfare will be reimbursed only for travel occurring within two days before and after the event date.
  • Open-jaw itineraries are permitted, provided the total cost does not exceed the cost of a comparable roundtrip ticket.
  • Airfare purchased using frequent flyer miles, points, or similar rewards is not eligible for reimbursement.

  • We do not cover ancillary travel expenses, including checked baggage fees or seat upgrades.

Ground Transportation

  • Full reimbursement for roundtrip rideshare transportation (e.g., Uber or Lyft) between SMF and Davis only.
  • Students who drive may receive mileage reimbursement, up to the applicable airfare reimbursement limit listed above.

Required Documentation
To receive reimbursement, please submit the following by the stated deadline:

  • A copy of your flight itinerary.
  • Airfare receipt that shows the total cost of the ticket and rideshare receipts.
    • Must show proof of payment, including the payment method and the last four digits of the credit card used for purchase.
  • Any rideshare receipts.
  • A completed Travel Expense Report Voucher submitted within 21 days of the event.

Please note that reimbursement requests that do not include the required documentation may be delayed or denied.

Covered Expenses

  • Up to 2 nights in shared lodging
  • Hotel breakfasts
  • Lunch and dinner on the event date
