Cat maps and Weyl quantization.

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Lech Wolowski, UC Davis
Location: 693 Kerr
Start time: Wed, Jan 14 2004, 12:10PM

Weyl quantization provides a useful tool in the study of quantum chaos. In this talk I will describe basic ideas of Weyl quantization and how it can be applied to quantize classical systems with compact phase spaces. As an example I will discuss in some details the quantization of cat maps, which constitute a typical class of chaotic dynamical systems.
