String Geometry and elliptic fibrations

The theory of elliptic curves is an elegant and vast subject in mathematics that can be traced back to ancient Greece and beyond. I will present recent developments in the theory of elliptic fibrations inspired by string geometry. In particular, I will explain how hyperplane arrangements and representation theory can naturally be introduced to describe several aspects of the geometry of elliptic fibrations.
There will be a reception after the talk in honor of the speaker.
