Noise Induced dissipation in Discrete Dynamical Systems.

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Lech Wolowski, UC Davis Math Dept.
Location: 693 Kerr
Start time: Mon, Oct 8 2001, 10:00AM

We examine long time sensitiveness of a class of discrete dynamical systems influenced by a random perturbation (noise) in the case when the magnitude of the perturbation tends to zero. We define the notion of dissipation time, analyze its asymptotic properties for the class of systems generated by toral automorphisms, and investigate its connections with the entropy of generating map.
