In this talk I will talk about the notion of renormalized volume, a notion originally defined for asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds Einstein manifolds. As I will explain, this notion has been expanded to other settings, in particular in geometries that generalize the Einstein condition. Special features of dimension four allow us to give "explicit" formulas for the renormalized volume.
