Dragon King is a metaphor for an event that is both extremely large in size or impact (a "king") and born of unique origins (a "dragon") relative to other events from the same system.
I will briefly introduce the famous oscillatory (Kuramoto) and cascading (BTW sandpile) network models and show that combining them gives rise to Dragon King events with an intuitive way of describing their self-amplifying mechanism.
