In this talk, I will discuss a few examples of viscoelastic fluids. We are particularly interested in the rheological and hydrodynamic behavior arising from specific types of fluid microstructures. An energetic variational formulation is employed to derive the coupled systems. We will discuss the special coupling between the transport of the elastic variables and the induced elastic stress. Moreover, these system often involve effects between different scales and the interactions between them. I will present some modeling and analytical results, as well as several open problems.
