Affine Stanley Symmetric Functions

Description
In 1984 Stanley defined an interesting class of symmetric functions now called the Stanley symmetric functions. These have recently been generalized to affine Stanley symmetric functions and to type C affine Stanley symmetric functions. These classes of symmetric functions can be seen as models for the cohomology of the affine Grassmannian in types A and C, respectively. I'll define all of the above, give some properties and describe how one might go about generalizing to other types.
