Two-Sided Yamabe Problem

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Ilana Udler, UC Davis
Location: 2112 MSB
Start time: Wed, May 14 2025, 12:10PM

The Yamabe problem generalizes uniformization of compact surfaces to manifolds of higher dimension. This problem has been solved in the compact setting, and singular variations have been extensively studied on non-compact manifolds. In this talk, I will discuss how conformal hypersurface embeddings can be used to study singular Yamabe metrics. Then, I will pose the Two-Sided Yamabe problem, and investigate it through an example of a conformally embedded hypersurface in the 3-sphere.
