Student-Run Research| Speaker: | Matthew Stone |
| Location: | 3106 MSB |
| Start time: | Wed, Feb 4 2026, 12:10PM |
Description
A self-avoiding walk (SAW) is a path on a lattice that does not visit the same location twice. This talk will cover some classic results on SAWs, including a proof of the Hammersley-Welsh bound on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ and a proof that the connective constant of $\{0, 1\} \times \mathbb{Z}$ is equal to the golden ratio.
