Supersymmetric black holes from internal dimensions in string theory

Mathematical Physics Seminar

Speaker: Alessandro Tomasiello, Stanford
Location: 2240 MSB
Start time: Fri, Nov 17 2006, 3:10PM

Recent progress in supergravity has allowed to classify geometrically supersymmetric solutions. We will see how four dimensional black holes and their attractor mechanism can be described using generalized complex geometry. As a warm-up we will describe a similar classification for vacua in type II theories, and review what is known about explicit examples beyond the Calabi-Yau case.
