Description
Signals in communication theory or two
dimensional images in medical imaging
or geophysics need to be truncated in
both physical and frequency space.
These natural operations pose a number of issues and
gives rise to a host of mathematical problems
ranging from numerical analysis to integrable systems.
I will show some old and new results to indicate that there are
still lots of gems buried in this very classical field.
