In this short-course, we will describe a two-stage program to establish unique shock solutions to the Euler equations in multiple space dimensions. The first part of this program consists of shock formation in which we will describe the maximal hyperbolic development of generic and compressive Cauchy data. The second part of the program will describe shock development using information from the maximal development as data.
