Estimating Forces in the Mitotic Spindle

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Kami Larripa, UC Davis
Location: 693 Kerr
Start time: Wed, May 5 2004, 12:10PM

Did you know that you're producing millions of new cells per second just to survive? How do these nanonmachines work? How do we estimate the forces they produce? We'll look specifically at the mitotic spindle and its role in cell division, and estimate forces exerted by microtubules on various cellular structures.
