We study eddy-viscous hydrodynamic instability of large-scale transport equations. The transport equations are derived from the first principles, that is Navier-Stokes equations by Multiscale techniques. By means of variational principles we prove asymtotic behavior of the coefficients of the transport equation for cellular flows, at high Reynolds numbers. For intermediate Reynolds numbers coefficients computed numerically. Results on linear and nonlinear stability analysis of the transport equations are given analytically and numerically respectively.
