Hyperbolic surfaces with prescribed infinite symmetry groups

For any countable group $G$, there exists a complete hyperbolic surface whose isometry group is $G$. The talk will explain this result of Daniel Allcock's, which uses only elementary methods: if you know what a group is and have at least a vague notion of hyperbolic space, then you have enough background to understand this talk.
