The topological string beyond supersymmetry

Colloquium

Speaker: Mina Aganagic, UC Berkeley
Location: 1147 MSB
Start time: Tue, Oct 31 2006, 4:10PM

Topological string theory has led to many exciting results at the intersection of mathematics and physics. This relied heavily on supersymmetry, which makes exact results possible. Today, a new picture is beginning to emerge, where the tools of the topological string are applicable to real world physics without supersymmetry.
