Linearization of groups and its applications

Colloquium

Speaker: Guoliang Yu, Vanderbilt University
Location: 1147 MSB
Start time: Fri, Nov 30 2007, 4:10PM

I will discuss linearization of groups and its applications to K-theory and index theory of elliptic operators. In particular, I will explain how discrete groups can be realized as symmetries of nice linear spaces and apply such construction to compute K-theory of group C*-algebras. I will make an effort to make this talk accessible to graduate students and non-experts.

Note the special day for this colloquium.
