Description
I'll give a talk in two parts: First, I would like to define
Jucys-Murphy elements in the integral group algebra of S_n, while also
noting how they can be obtained from the associated Hecke algebra.
Second, I would like to prove that the center of the integral symmetric
group algebra is generated by elementary symmetric function in the
Jucys-Murphy elements.
