New methods for Hamilton-Jacobi equations

Colloquium

Speaker: Lawrence C Evans, UC Berkeley
Location: 1147 MSB
Start time: Mon, May 4 2009, 4:10PM

In this expository talk, I will discuss an old idea in nonlinear PDE theory, introducing solutions of the adjoint of the linearization, and will explain how this trick lets us develop new integration-by-parts methods for Hamilton-Jacobi equations. One nice application is a new compensated compactness technique.
