This is the third of a three talk series as part of the geometry/topology Research Focus Group. 3) C*-algebras as noncommutative spaces This talk would cover how one can associate C*-algebras to more complicated geometric objects, such as foliations. It will include discussion of when it is useful to transfer ideas from "commutative" geometry to this setting and how to do it. There will also be a brief introduction to groupoids.
