Disease Dynamics in Space

Colloquium

We consider a spatially explicit stochastic disease model on a regular lattice. Our aim is to investigate the spread of disease in plant populations where the host plant and its pathogen have different interaction neighborhoods. We demonstrate that coexistence occurs when the dispersal distance of the host plant is much larger than the dispersal distance of the pathogen and show that spatial patterns occur when the reverse holds.
